The CRF recognizes that to secure the continuity of the profession, it is critical to bring medical students into radiology.

As such, the CRF offers the following awards:

CAR ASM Indigenous Scholarship

This award is provided to allow indigenous medical students in any year of their undergraduate medical education to attend the Canadian Association of Radiology (CAR) Annual Scientific Meeting.

Radiology Research Summer Studentship

This award enables medical students in the first or second year of their undergraduate medical education to engage in the scientific process and explore the dynamic field of diagnostic or interventional radiology through supervised research projects early in their undergraduate medical education. The award allows medical students to develop their research abilities within a radiologic setting. The selected student will have the opportunity to work with their radiologist mentor to engage in experiential learning aimed at improving their understanding of research beginning with formulating an appropriate question to publication and knowledge dissemination. Students are responsible for discussing detailed day-to-day expectations with their research mentors.

The award aims to acknowledge the contributions of successful applicants through small monetary awards while further developing their leadership skills to advance the Canadian radiology community. The award will also help to showcase exceptional work done by medical student leaders while indirectly highlighting the contributions of the CRF and the CAR to ensuring the future of radiology through its trainees.
